P Scales

Teaching staff use the P scales to assess pupils, through observation and recording throughout the year, leading to a teacher assessment being completed each Summer term and reported to families in the End of Year report sent home each July.

P scales are assessment criteria that have been developed to help assess pupils who are working below level 1 of the National Curriculum. The P scales are split into eight different levels with P1 being the lowest and P8 the highest.

Assessing pupils using the P scales help teaching staff to make and record judgements about pupil attainment at the end of a year and also look at how pupils are maintaining, developing and transferring skills.

Further information about the P scales can be found on the QCDA website.

Safeguarding

St John's is totally committed to safeguarding all our pupils and students and to a culture of vigilance.

A member of the Senior Leadership Group is the school designated member of staff for safeguarding. We have a governor whose responsibility is to oversee all matters of safeguarding throughout the school.

We apply safeguarding procedures for paid, unpaid, permanent and temporary staff and volunteers.

The school ICT systems and users are protected from accidental or deliberate misuse that could put our pupils at risk.
