Overview of Themes

To deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, each phase (from EY to KS4) plans around a termly theme (the themes are taken from the International Primary Curriculum-IPC).

The termly theme is used as a vehicle for learning, linking resources, activities and visits and adding variety and breadth. This supports the generalisation of concepts and provides a link for all pupils within a phase giving a common agenda for collaborative planning and integrated sessions.

Sharing the termly theme with families provides opportunities to follow up on work from school and reinforce learning at home.

Safeguarding

St John's is totally committed to safeguarding all our pupils and students and to a culture of vigilance.

A member of the Senior Leadership Group is the school designated member of staff for safeguarding. We have a governor whose responsibility is to oversee all matters of safeguarding throughout the school.

We apply safeguarding procedures for paid, unpaid, permanent and temporary staff and volunteers.

The school ICT systems and users are protected from accidental or deliberate misuse that could put our pupils at risk.
