Eighteen teachers including those who are specialist in autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) and multi-sensory impairment (MSI) are class-based and work alongside four Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA). All classes are well supported by a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSA).

An up-to-date staff list is available on the school web-site. The school also employs directly or contracts the services of a range of professionals including a Teacher Coach, Speech and Language Therapist, Transitions Manager, Media Technician, Swimming Teacher and Music Therapist.

Bedford Borough Council provides professional support in Educational Psychology, Music Therapy, Educational Audiology and Advisers for Sensory Impairment. Social Workers and Connexions Advisers have an ongoing presence at St John's.

Safeguarding

St John's is totally committed to safeguarding all our pupils and students and to a culture of vigilance.

A member of the Senior Leadership Group is the school designated member of staff for safeguarding. We have a governor whose responsibility is to oversee all matters of safeguarding throughout the school.

We apply safeguarding procedures for paid, unpaid, permanent and temporary staff and volunteers.

The school ICT systems and users are protected from accidental or deliberate misuse that could put our pupils at risk.
