The main aim of physiotherapists working within St. John's is to encourage pupils to meet their full physical potential. They work closely with school staff to ensure physiotherapy is carried out during the school day. The pupils' assessment and treatement takes place in the school's therapy building as well as within the classroom and other areas of the school.

An initial assessment is carried out to identify the pupil's main physical difficulty; following this, a programme is designed to include relevant and specific stretching and movement activities.

Equipment is an important part of physiotherapy within the school and the therapists assess and advise on the use of walking aids and standing frames.
