Welcome to St John's Special School & College

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope that you find it interesting and informative. However, if you are left with unanswered questions then please contact the school office and we will do our best to help.

We are very proud of our school which has now received three successive outstanding OfSTED reports. St John's provides a happy and supportive environment in which professionals, pupils and parents work and achieve together. St John's is one of three special schools within the Borough of Bedford. We provide up to 140 places for pupils with severe learning difficulties between the ages of 2-19 years. Many of our pupils have additional physical or sensory needs and a number present with autistic spectrum condition.

St John's is an important part of the local community and as such we work closely with a number of mainstream partner schools. Through this partnership we are able to provide outstanding opportunities for our pupils to learn alongside their mainstream peers.

We very much welcome visits from parents and carers who are considering us as a school for their son or daughter. Please explore our website then come and experience first hand the positive and purposeful atmosphere of St John's.

Safeguarding

St John's is totally committed to safeguarding all our pupils and students and to a culture of vigilance.

A member of the Senior Leadership Group is the school designated member of staff for safeguarding. We have a governor whose responsibility is to oversee all matters of safeguarding throughout the school.

We apply safeguarding procedures for paid, unpaid, permanent and temporary staff and volunteers.

The school ICT systems and users are protected from accidental or deliberate misuse that could put our pupils at risk.
