St. John’s is a mixed day school for children and young people between the ages of 2 and 19 who have severe learning difficulties.  Some pupils may have additional medical, physical or sensory impairments or emotional and behavioural difficulties.  

St John’s is the Bedfordshire LA designated specialist provision for multi-sensory impairment (MSI). The school’s main site is situated in Kempston on a 2.5 acre area in Austin Canons.  The older building(dating from 1954) houses the secondary aged pupils and is separated by recreation and play areas from the newer building which contains administration offices and classroom space for the primary pupils.

The main site contains a separate indoor heated hydrotherapy swimming pool which includes a jacuzzi, changing rooms, toilets and shower areas.  An interactive light and sound room and 2 rumpus rooms provide additional sensory experiences supporting teaching and learning.
